Position Highlights

The Electrical Services unit within the University Facility Services (UFS) Department is seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrician, Bucket Truck to become part of our dynamic team. This position requires overtime, weekend, holiday work and to work on call or standby shifts as part of a rotation. This position also requires working at heights and traveling to remote sites such as mountain tops, mines and most environments in between.

Duties & Responsibilities

Outside Lighting Maintenance:

  • This position requires working at heights.
  • Operating and using a 45' bucket truck, towed lift, scissor lift to maintain, repair, and replace campus street lighting, area lighting, and specialty lighting such as blue light phone lighting.
  • This position is key to maintaining a safe and inviting campus environment.

Electrical Repairs:

  • Performs duties as assigned by Lead Electrician and Supervisor.
  • Operates a variety of electrical testing equipment used for locating and determining types of electrical malfunctions.
  • Operates, maintains and troubleshoots facility systems including but not limited to the electrical system and associated components, electrical distribution panels, switch gear, motor controls, generators, automatic transfer switches, lighting, low voltage control systems, transformers, street lights, hallway and classroom lighting, and Energy Management Systems.
  • This position will be in a rotation of standby to respond to after regular hours electrical emergencies.

AV Support:

  • Assist in setting up and installing AV equipment such as projectors, screens, sound systems, lighting and video displays, wires, distribution power and extension cords, during installations.
  • Support AV technicians with system testing and troubleshooting to ensure functionality.
  • Follow safety protocols and comply with worksite regulations.
  • Standby support for Electrical, A/V and power events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Good knowledge of electrical application for medium and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Skilled in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical systems equipment and components.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Basic understanding of A/V systems and components.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
