Employer Development Coordinator

The Employer Development Coordinator advances Macomb's mission by cultivating, strengthening, and managing employer partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for students and alumni. This role oversees employer-facing programs and platforms, implements engagement strategies that support student recruitment and success, and serves as a key liaison among employers, faculty, and academic programs. Through targeted outreach, strategic partnerships, event coordination, labor market alignment, and collaborative programming, the coordinator enhances employer visibility, connects workforce needs with academic pathways, and supports holistic student career readiness across the institution.

Employer Engagement, Recruitment & Outreach

  • Drive and implement the CS team's employer recruitment and development objectives and goals.
  • Seek out, identify, and cultivate relationships with employers interested in hiring Macomb students and alumni.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between employers, connecting employers to appropriate college resources.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employers, faculty, instructors, external agencies, and professional associations.
  • Conduct outreach through site visits, networking events, chamber meetings, conferences, and community events.
  • Promote Career Services offerings including job postings, recruitment events, and classroom or campus engagement opportunities.
  • Monitor and survey community labor market trends to inform employer engagement strategy.
  • Track and report employer engagement metrics, student placement outcomes, and new employer activity in the CRM.
  • Provide retention services to job seekers and employers through scheduled follow-up interactions.
  • Support grant and apprenticeship programs by leveraging employer connections and recruitment needs.

Employer Onboarding & CRM System

  • Assist employers with account setup, platform navigation, job postings, and event submissions.
  • Manage employer, job, and event approval processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to institutional guidelines.
  • Maintain employer records, documentation, and communication logs in CRM.
  • Provide technical support for employers and monitor posting activity to ensure high-quality opportunities.
  • Develop and distribute large-volume messaging to employers and students through CRM systems.

Event Planning & Program Coordination

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute employer-related events, including:
    • Annual Job Fair
    • Career Exploration Days
    • On-campus and virtual information sessions
    • Classroom presentations
    • Job shadows, company tours, and other experiential learning opportunities
  • Organize event logistics in collaboration with Career Services administrative staff.
  • Coordinate employer visits, speakers, and tours for LIFE 1010 courses.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to align events with program needs, including grant-funded initiatives.
  • Promote employer events through digital platforms, campus channels, and Career Services communications.

Labor Market Awareness & Strategic Alignment

  • Stay current on labor market trends, hiring demands, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Use labor market data to guide employer outreach and strategic planning.
  • Consult with faculty, academic leadership, and advisory boards to align workforce needs with program outcomes.
  • Provide employers with guidance on college processes, program capabilities, and student talent pipelines.
  • Serve as liaison for CS annual goals and strategic planning initiatives.

Holistic Career Services & Student Support

  • Provide prompt, student-centered support through in-person and virtual appointments.
  • Assist students with career exploration, résumé/document preparation, interview readiness, and job search strategies.
  • Review and approve student career documents in CRM especially during peak periods.
  • Deliver career readiness workshops and presentations; step in as needed to support department coverage.
  • Engage in proactive case management by tracking student interactions, follow-up needs, and referrals.
  • Maintain an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment that promotes student confidence and career readiness.

Professional Responsibilities and Departmental Support

  • Work collaboratively to achieve departmental, divisional and institutional initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance job skills and stay informed on best practices.
  • Represent the department at internal and external events.
  • Cross-train in additional Career Services areas to ensure department-wide support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution (required).
  • Facilitated Career Development (FCD) Certificate preferred.
