Duties & Responsibilities:
This position is part of the SOM Endpoint team which provides technical and administrative expertise in the support of the School of Medicine IT infrastructure, including but not limited to: Application and web server management, Active Directory management, Enterprise privilege management, Information security management, File server management, Remote access and removable media management, End user support, Vsphere/Horizon, and Dell OneFS. This position will be responsible for assisting in all of these components, while having a strong focus on server management, VMware and Active Directory management. Specifically, this position will provide technical and administrative expertise in managing all VCU School of Medicine central servers (including web, application, and file servers). The individual will monitor, analyze, and manage these servers to provide timely response to submitted server and infrastructure related issues and requests. The individual will also provide first response in server and systems technical issues and ensure the best performance and uptime for all servers and core infrastructure services. Patch management as well as provisioning and decommissioning servers will be done on a needed basis. This position is expected to be on-call for off-hour infrastructure-related issues.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of general Microsoft IT infrastructure management tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical problems related to enterprise management applications.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to audience with varying levels of technology experience.
- Ability to follow up with appropriate technical staff until issues are resolved.
- Ability to collaborate as an effective member of a busy information technology team as well as work independently.
- Ability to perform duties independently in a timely and punctual manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
- Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
- Essential knowledge of IT security concepts, principles and trends, such as access control, communications security, risk management, application program security, computer operations security and physical property security.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to solve highly complex problems with medium to high impact to the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Master of Computer Science.
- Demonstrated expertise of networking concepts and technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of query language and scripting concepts.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a short distance. Vendor sponsored certifications (Sec+, Network+, MCSE) as well as other information technology (ITIL) and security related certifications preferred (GSEC, CISSP).

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000
