Summary of Position
The mission of the RRCC Engineering department is to prepare diverse students for successful transfer to engineering degrees at colleges and universities across the state of Colorado. RRCC was the first community college in Colorado to create an articulated transfer agreement to the Colorado School of Mines (Mines). Building on over 20 years of transfers, RRCC and Mines launched the Mines Academy at Red Rocks in Fall 2022 to offer diverse students guaranteed admission to Mines upon completion of the Mines Academy. RRCC is offering a new Associates of Engineering (AES) degree. In addition to Mines, RRCC engineering students are competitive in transferring to the University of Colorado (Denver and Boulder) as well as Metro State University of Denver.
Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held on days, evenings, and weekends.
The hourly pay for this position is $1149.00 to $1810.05 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program. This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time Instructor vacancies. Finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including online courses.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus).
- Demonstrated ability and desire to teach students online and face-to-face.
- Demonstrated ability to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability in Programming Languages, such as Arduino, Python, JavaScript, and/or Matlab.
- Demonstrated CAD Experience: Solidworks, Autodesk, Tinkercad, OnShape.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in one of the related areas: Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics from an accredited institution.
- Qualify for a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential including 2,000 paid non-teaching occupational hours within the past five years.
- **Current teachers applying to teach RRCC campus-based, online, or concurrent enrollment CTE courses may include non-teaching occupational hours that are older than the 5-year requirement if they have the required degree (and license/certifications as listed) and a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience in the discipline/program or 6 years part-time teaching experience in the discipline/program.
- Fifteen (15) semester credit hours teaching experience.
- Experience in at least one of the following: curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, or academic advising.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
- A master's or Ph.D. in Engineering from an academic institution accredited by ABET.
- One or more years of industry engineering experience.
- One semester of teaching Engineering Design to community college students.
- Teaching or experience in high school STEM programming.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and skills.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position. Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs. This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
