Located conveniently in Augusta's downtown medical community, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home provides continuous professional nursing care to veterans of Georgia who have served in the armed forces during war times. The home is owned and funded by the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and operated through an interagency agreement with Augusta University. Through this association, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home is considered a leader in the area of geriatric educational training for Augusta University.
Job Summary
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned resident care area, administrative, rehabilitation areas, and visitor areas in a long-term care facility licensed for 192 beds.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- JANITORIAL DUTIES: Perform a variety of cleaning tasks within an assigned work area to include thorough dust mop floors and wet mop floors, and all traffic areas, including resident areas and corridors, using a chemically treated dust mop. Wet mop floors using a germicidal solution to kill both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens and provide the floors with bactericidal protection. Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms and showers daily with germicidal solution. Keep vents dust-free.
- CHEMICAL/BIOHAZARDOUS DUTIES: Collect and transport biohazardous waste to designated area.
- REMOVE SPOTS, SPILLAGE, AND SPRAY BUFF FLOORS: Check all residents' floor and corridors. Remove spots and spillage, and buff resident floors and corridors. Damp wipe/clean chairs, bedside cabinets, overbed trays, and exposed areas of residents' beds with a germicidal solution.
- SPOT CLEAN AND SANITIZE: Spot clean and sanitize walls, doors, doorsills, door hinges, and doorknobs with a germicidal solution, removing fingermarks and smudges. Sanitize shower walls, removing mold and mildew.
- TERMINAL CLEAN UNITS: Terminal clean units when residents are discharged. Completely clean resident closets and bedside cabinets. Participate in special cleaning projects as directed by supervisors.
- OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization.
OR
One year of experience in a similar position in a commercial, hospital or industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in environmental cleaning, particularly in a healthcare environment.

Pay Band: B1
Salary: Minimum: $15.00/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
