Job Summary

The Equal Opportunity and Title IX Compliance Investigator shall assist the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX Compliance in efforts to investigate allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, including alleged violations of Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX. This position will manage programs, policies and practices to monitor and ensure compliance with the laws, regulations and rules of federal, state and self-regulatory organizations. Lastly, the individual shall develop and deliver campus wide training related to EEO, discrimination, Title IX, and VAWA.

This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is responsible for reporting crimes and other incidents to the Clery Act Compliance Officer for inclusion in the Annual Campus Security Report in accordance with the Federal Clery Act and GGC policy.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts a prompt, equitable and impartial administrative investigation of alleged discrimination and harassment, including allegations of discrimination based on race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking; act as an impartial and neutral party in conducting prompt, thorough, and equitable investigations.
  • Assists in conducting the intake investigation interviews related to incoming discrimination, Title IX and/or sexual misconduct complaints. Demonstrate strong investigation skills including, but not limited to, developing an investigation plan, interviewing complainants and respondents, identifying and interviewing witnesses, identifying and collecting relevant evidence, appropriately documenting interviews and other investigative findings, analyzing information to determine charges and/or findings, and writing investigation reports
  • Performs administrative duties to support the triage and initial intake investigation process. Organize and maintain all documentation, including but not limited to, notes, evidence, records, communications, and other materials regarding each investigation assigned
  • Issue a written report setting forth charges and possible sanctions, as well as an explanation of the evidence against the respondent to the investigation
  • Develop, promote, and deliver campus wide training related to equal opportunity and sexual misconduct prevention awareness training, campus programming outreach events to promote Title IX, compliance, and equal opportunity. Maintains training records and reports along with measurable goals and objectives. Coordinates and oversees compliance with ADA/ Section 504. Remain knowledgeable of current state and federal laws and regulations (EEO, Title IX, and VAWA) and trends in the field of education related to harassment, discrimination, misconduct, and other policy violations of the College and University System of Georgia
  • Assist in the response to inquires and complaints process for students, faculty, staff administrators and third parties regarding rights and responsibilities concerning EEO, harassing or other discriminatory behaviors and violations of Title IX. Review and ensure the institutions policies, procedures, protocols and practices are in compliance with state, federal, and local laws and Title IX regulations
  • Assists in administrative duties of the Equal Opportunity &Title IX Office including but not limited to filing, requisitions, budget review, purchasing, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years of Title IX and equal opportunity-related investigating experience, or investigate/legal background in lieu of work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • ATIXA level II or higher Civil Rights Investigator training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations related to Titles VI, VII, and IX, due process rights, VAWA, FERPA, and other applicable state and/or federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current state and federal law and regulations, institution-specific policies, practices and procedures, identified best practices and trends in the field of education related to harassment, other discriminatory practices that violate Title IX, and student conduct matters.
  • Background in conducting Title IX, civil rights, or similar investigations and knowledge of complexities surrounding investigations in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated experience developing and conducting trainings

Proposed Salary

56,800 - 71,000

Salary offer will be dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines.

Conditions of Employment

Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States and proof of eligibility will be contemporaneously required upon acceptance of an employment offer. Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation including a criminal background check demonstrating your eligibility for employment with Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). Eligibility of employment is determined by GGC in its sole discretion, and includes but is not limited to confirmation of credentials and employment history reflected in your application materials; and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check. Applicants may be subject to a pre-employment drug test.
