Your Role on the Team
Position Summary: The Emergency Department Technician (EMT) is trained to provide limited patient care. He/she must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in diverse situations. He/she works under the direction of a Registered nurse.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications: Current EMT Certification with recent ambulance or hospital experience, Current CPR Certification, Non-violent crisis intervention within three months of hire and recertification every year thereafter. Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Qualifications: Basic ECG class, ACLS, Computer literate, Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
Physical Requirements: 1) Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. 2) Must be able to lift and position patients. 3) Must have dexterity, coordination, visual and auditory acuity to perform patient care procedures. 4) Must be able to perform CPR without restrictions.
