Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and mission-driven PeopleSoft Application Developer to join the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) and support our critical Student Information System (SIS). Ideal applicants will have the ability to work effectively both independently with minimal guidance and collaboratively within a team.
This role is integral to maintaining, enhancing, and integrating the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions environment, ensuring technology aligns with the university's teaching, learning, and research missions.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities & Impact)
You will work closely with technical and functional stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver high-quality PeopleSoft solutions.
1. Development and Customization
- Design, develop, and implement system enhancements, customizations, and new features within the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions environment.
- Develop and maintain complex interface programs and integrations between PeopleSoft and other campus systems.
- Translate business requirements from key stakeholders into robust, well-documented technical designs and solutions.
- Ensure all development adheres to adopted coding, documentation, and change management standards.
- Provide ongoing production support including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex technical issues and defects.
- Work independently to solve complex problems and identify solutions to prevent future occurrences (proactive analysis).
- Lead small projects or complex project steps within larger SIS implementation efforts.
- Collaborate with SIS functional team members in assessing, analyzing, and testing new or updated functionality.
- Mentor junior team members to foster technical growth and continuous improvement within the team.
- Communicate complex technical concepts, questions, and solutions clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical university stakeholders.
- Develop expertise in at least one SIS module (e.g., Admissions, Student Financials, Application Security) and stay informed of trends in Higher Education Student Systems.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Conducts systems analysis, reviews and interprets system requirements, and develops detailed system design specifications for system integration and upgrades
- Prepares program documentation and training requirements
- Designs and implements test plans, and prepares systems test data
- Develops, prepares, or modifies technical specifications for complex projects, system integrations, and upgrades
- Reviews application design specifications, codes new applications, and makes enhancements to existing applications
- Conducts analysis for the evaluation and selection of vendor software solutions and packages
- Reviews application modules for quality assurance and checks compliance with application architecture standards
- Leads sub-functional team for application development or enhancement
- Contributes to the development of data structure and systems performance strategies
- Trains and provides technical guidance to lower level staff
Division of Information Technology, Enterprise Business Systems, Student Applications
Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) helps administrative units provide enterprise resource planning (ERP) services to UW–Madison and Universities of Wisconsin constituents. EBS groups are formed around supporting the ERPs (Madison and Universities of Wisconsin Student Information Systems (SIS), Oracle Exadata, CRM) and key administrative units. EBS supports cloud applications, on-premise vendor solutions, and custom systems through business analysis, application design, programming, integration, testing and project management.
Student Applications provides application development support for systems related to the student administrative experience, including the PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS), used by UW–Madison.
Compensation:
Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants can expect to earn between $95,000 - $115,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated professional experience in PeopleSoft application development supporting HCM, FCM, or Campus Solutions
- Proven expertise in PeopleTools technologies (e.g., Application Engine, PeopleCode, Integration Broker, SQR)
- Experience with the full development lifecycle: design, development, testing, and documentation
- Proven ability to perform complex analysis of ERP systems to identify gaps and develop integration and solution designs
- Demonstrated professional experience in a medium-to-large IT organization
- Experience with PHP, Java, or other internet development environments
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Demonstrated professional experience in PeopleSoft application development supporting Campus Solutions Student Financials or Admissions
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or a related field or equivalent experience preferred
