General Description

This position is responsible for developing and launching the varsity eSports Program and is in charge of recruiting student-players; building and maintaining collaborative relationships with outside agencies in the eSports industry; managing the budget; and overseeing the general operations, coaching, and building of the Program identity.

Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field

Minimum of (1) year of structured eSports gaming experience

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is light work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

This position requires the person to frequently move about the OCCC campus and offsite outreach locations.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

Work is performed in an indoor office setting.

Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, and stable work environment.

Work performed during eSports tournament season will require nights, evenings, some weekends as needed.

Work performed outside of eSports tournament season will require normal office hours with occasional nights and evenings as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field

(2) years' of coaching experience and structured eSports coordination at a community college in Student Affairs, eSports, and/or Computer Lab.

Required Training

Quarterly and yearly as required by the institution

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Job Duties (Position Specific)

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Develops and maintains a varsity eSports Program; serves as a liaison between Business Information Technology (BIT) and Student Affairs through regular reports to the eSports Coordinating Committee (including student academic standing, competition schedules and updates, equipment needs/acquisitions, budget updates, etc.); serves as a student club advisor for an eSports Student Club; and manages budgets for the eSports Program.

Maintains knowledge of all relevant and recently released video games, especially those featured by OCCC.

Contributes to the ongoing improvement of product by being an active voice for the Community Coach; coaches, strategize, encourages, disciplines, and assesses student-athlete development, conduct, and team position; conducts recruitment activities in accordance/compliance with any eSports governing body; develops rules and regulations for team membership and activities in conjunction with OCCC Student Conduct Code; and coordinates recruitment and scholarship activities with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs.

Coordinates and manages schedules for practices and games (includes league and tournament schedule coordination); coaches games and practices; supervises team leads/team coaches; works with team leads/team coaches to develop a competition season; coordinates any travel; acts as chaperone for team when travel is required; facilitates and coordinates maintenance of eSports equipment; and manages and moderates eSports GameLab discord.

Directs, develops, promotes, and maintains the eSports Program offered at OCCC; creates strategies to evaluate performance and effectiveness of the Program; and determines measurements to enhance the productivity of the Program.

Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with outside agencies in the eSports industry as necessary; collaborates with the OCCC Foundation and similar campus partners to identify, develop, and help identify and steward external support for the eSports Program; and performs other duties related to eSports and GameLab.

Assists in supporting Student Computer Center in other duties as assigned; promotes eSports; develops, organizes, and directs the fund-raising and sponsorship activities through advertising and vendor contacts for varsity eSports; organizes and manages summer camps for prospective eSports student-athletes; promotes attendance at eSports events by providing information for students, faculty, staff, and the public; assists with maintaining information on the web page; coordinates television, print, and radio information (including game/tournament broadcasting); and connects eSports with academic programs that help all of the recruit interns, student employees, graduate assistants, etc.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
