As the Events and Venue Operations Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to lead the planning and delivery of diverse commercial and stakeholder events across the University's prestigious cultural venues. You will gain invaluable experience in event management, team leadership, and operational excellence whilst working with internal stakeholders, external partners, and senior leadership. This role offers you the chance to shape vibrant, commercially viable events that strengthen the University's cultural strategy and community engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead End-to-End Event Delivery: Plan and coordinate complex commercial, stakeholder, and strategic events including conferences, exhibition launches, and special events, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Provide Team Leadership and Supervision: Oversee and recruitment of event supervisors and casual staff, delivering onboarding, training, and performance feedback to foster a positive and high-performing team culture.
  • Manage Event Operations and Budgets: Develop event plans, timelines, run sheets, and budgets, track expenditure, and reconcile post-event financials whilst identifying opportunities for efficiency and commercial improvement.
  • Build Stakeholder Relationships and Coordinate Logistics: Collaborate with internal teams, venue caterers, commercial clients, and suppliers to ensure consistent event delivery and maintain strong working relationships across the organisation.

You may be a great fit if:

You are an experienced events professional with demonstrated expertise in coordinating complex events, managing multiple concurrent projects, and supervising teams in fast-paced environments, combined with strong stakeholder management and operational judgement.

You may also:

  • Have experience coordinating and delivering complex events within large or multifaceted organisations.
  • Possess proven ability to manage multiple events simultaneously whilst balancing competing priorities and changing requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong supervisory experience with casual or event-based teams, including briefing and on-the-day guidance.
  • Have a solid understanding of operational risk, compliance, and safety protocols with the ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Have experience or a keen interest in working within the arts, museums, and gallery sector.
