Executive Director - Institute for Faith, Leadership, Service
The Institute of Faith, Leadership, and Service is an innovative academic and faith-based center embedded in Azusa Pacific University with a focus on developing people's faith and leadership in the church and their communities to enhance their lives and ministry effectiveness. With over $9 million in resources, it engages leaders in children's ministries, youth groups, Christian schools, churches, and faith-based organizations. The Institute aims to foster transformation in people and organizations to serve God's purposes with integrity, compassion, and a Christ-driven purpose, empowering students, faculty, pastors, churches, and organizations through Christian education, community engagement, and leadership development.
The Executive Director will launch and lead the Institute, providing strategic leadership for programs, initiatives, and partnerships. This role involves shaping the Institute's vision, leading staff, expanding outreach, managing finances, and collaborating with university departments and external partners. Reporting to the Vice-Provost for Academic Effectiveness, this is a full-time exempt position with benefits.
Required Education
A relevant doctoral degree is preferred; candidates with Master-level theological training, complex leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a record of successful grant writing and fundraising may be considered.
Required Experience
Ten years of professional church and/or parachurch ministry leadership; extensive teaching and leadership in Christian Higher Education; denominational/ecclesial ordination and leadership; experience in leading and mentoring college and graduate students, as well as highly competent professionals; and experience with high school and/or college students.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
- Provide leadership and vision for the Institute, developing and executing its vision aligned with the university's mission.
- Oversee program development and management, including designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs, cultivating partnerships, and managing finances.
- Lead grants, research, writing, and distribution efforts, including fundraising, promoting research, and representing the Institute at various venues.
- Handle accountability and reporting, monitoring program effectiveness and providing reports to leadership.
- Engage staff and stakeholders by recruiting, mentoring, and building relationships.

Compensation
Grade 20: $113,778 to $130,845 annually.
