Associate to Full Professor, Tenure Track, Christian Theology, Department of Religion

The Department of Religion seeks to fill a position at the rank of Associate to Full Professor in Christian Theology, to start August 1, 2026. We welcome applicants with expertise in any area of systematic/constructive theology, particularly those with specializations such as theologies of liberation, feminist and womanist theologies, theology and the arts, or theological anthropology, who approach their theological work in an ecumenical spirit. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D., Th.D., or D.Phil. in theology or a cognate discipline, will be competent to teach their areas of specialization at the graduate (Ph.D.) level and all major loci of Christian theology at the undergraduate level, and must be active in the Christian tradition.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D., Th.D., or D.Phil in theology or a cognate discipline is required.
  • Competency to teach in the area of specialization at the graduate (Ph.D.) level is required.
  • The ability to attract and mentor doctoral students is desirable.
  • Teaching experience preferred, in particular a willingness to teach quality undergraduate classes from the freshman through the senior level and all major loci of Christian theology (1000- 4000 level courses).
  • A demonstrated R1 research agenda, and the ability to seek external funding, is preferred.
  • Candidates should approach their theological work in an ecumenical spirit and may have expertise in any area of systematic/constructive theology; we are particularly interested in those with specializations such as theologies of liberation, feminist and womanist theologies, theology and the arts, or theological anthropology.
  • Candidate must be active in a local church in the Christian tradition.
