Executive Director
Summary/Objective
The Executive Director will serve at the pleasure of the Board of Directors and as the chief administrator, providing leadership and implementing policies and programs to carry out the work of the Corporation. The Executive Director will organize, develop and implement all campus auxiliary services, which are not under the auspices of the State University, New York. Included among these services are dining services, campus stores, laundry and product vending, transportation, agency accounting and other services provided within the framework of the Corporation By-Laws, and Contract with the State University of New York.
Essential Functions
- Reports to the Board of Directors, maintaining open communication and disclosure of the conditions, operations and needs of the corporation.
- Drafts, presents and recommends organizational policies and programs to the Board.
- Develops and implements strategic plans that address long and short-term objectives and goals, which will enhance services to students, faculty, staff and administration and recommends to the Board of Directors for approval.
- Ensures preparation of all required documents for timely review by the Board of Directors, and forwarding for appropriate State officials.
- Ensures the proper functioning of the terms and conditions of the contract between the Corporation and New York State.
- Provides oversight for activities performed in accordance with fiduciary agreements with SUNY Canton divisions.
- Ensure that the Corporation is in compliance with all policies, guidelines, regulations, statutes and laws which may apply to any services the Corporation is engaged in.
- Oversees preparation of the annual budget for Board approval, Human Resources, Provides for the development, authorization and administration of an appropriate budget procedure to control fiscal performance of the Corporation within predictable limits.
- Insures that all funds, physical assets and other property owned by or assigned to the Corporation are appropriately safeguarded, productive and well maintained.
- Approves capital expenditures of a routine nature of $5,000 or under with review of the Executive Committee. Recommends to the Board of Directors for approval, capital expenditure items which are of significant financial impact and/or represent a change in the Corporation’s strategy.
- Serves as College Association’s liaison during construction phase of projects related to corporate operations.
- Manages and coordinates the negotiations of the CSEA contract. Serves as member and spokesperson for management’s negotiation team.
- Oversees personnel policies concerning all facets of the Corporation that provides equitable treatment for all employees and ensures that these policies are consistently applied.
- Directs the senior management team, including: Human Resources Manager; Controller; Dining Managers and Campus Store Managers.
- Participates in meetings and conferences, which will enhance College Association operations.
- Supervises and coordinates with the college community and other organizations.
- Maintains direct communication with students, faculty, staff and administration.

- The Executive Director oversees the daily administration of the corporation by implementing policies, procedures and programs.
- Drafts and implements performance standards, conducts performance reviews for senior management.

This job operates in a university setting.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. This position consists of prolonged sitting at a desk and working at a computer. The employee must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least three to five years of business administration and/or experience related to the Corporation with supervisory and leadership experience.

This is a full-time twelve-month position.
