Position Highlights
The Pima County Cooperative Extension Office is seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual to fill the position of Extension Assistant II.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the delivery of semester-based afterschool programming for high school and middle school youth, as well as summer programming camps for high school, middle school, and youth center program youth for Pima County Cooperative Extension's The Garden Kitchen (TGK) program. The incumbent will assist in the physical setup of the kitchen, garden, classroom, and recreational spaces, assist with the community engagement process with partners and youth to co-design programming content, support the implementation of a trauma-informed, inclusive learning environment and implementation of programming at sites, support high school participant peer mentors for younger cohorts, assist in coordinating delivery of program materials, and record entries into data collection systems.
This position will require the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card and a Fingerprint One Clearance Card.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of The Garden Kitchen's youth programming.
- Assist in the physical setup of the kitchen, garden, classroom, and recreational spaces.
- Assist with the community engagement process with partners and youth to co-design programming content.
- Foster and maintain relationships with high school, middle school, and youth center partners participating in The Garden Kitchen programming, and/or use The Garden Kitchen facility for programming and camps.
- Support the implementation of a trauma-informed, inclusive learning environment and implementation of programming at sites.
- Support high school participant peer mentors for younger cohorts.
- Coordinate and support delivery of program materials, control and monitor inventory of materials, and collect and monitor program and participant evaluation information as appropriate.
- Establish contact with and collect appropriate community resources for relevant supportive information and provide those resources and information to program partners and/or participants as appropriate.
- Record informational entries into data collection systems, time logs, and mileage logs.
- Additional programming will include gardening in The Garden Kitchen community garden, cleaning the commercial kitchen facilities, and/or assisting with additional The Garden Kitchen programming as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of data collection systems.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of groups/individuals.
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen standards and understanding the basics of cooking.
- Skill in public speaking and presenting information to large groups.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed program delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing programming for youth and the ability to lead training and physical activity classes for a variety of ability levels.
- Prior experience with monitoring, maintaining, and recording program data, materials, and identifying program needs.
