Specific areas include mathematical optimization, operations research, mechanism design, matching, allocation problems, scheduling, decision support, simulation, data analysis, AI and IoT applications, supply chains, logistics systems, production and industrial systems, digital twins, smart factories, and manufacturing DX. The appointee is also expected to address issues involving resource allocation, matching, scheduling, logistics, supply chains, and production and service systems through data-driven analysis, modeling, optimization, simulation, institutional design, rule design, and decision support, thereby contributing to sustainable and efficient social and industrial systems.

Education and research in the above-mentioned field of spcialization.
(1) Class duties:
Undergraduate specialized education (College of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation), Graduate specialized education (Division of Convergence Science, Graduate School of Frontier Science Initiative): Kanazawa University provides education for students enrolled in the College of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation and the Division of Convergence Science, Graduate School of Frontier Science Initiative. This education is based on transdisciplinary sciences integrating the humanities, sciences, and medicine, as well as on the creation of convergent knowledge. The appointee will teach courses related to the above fields of expertise, as well as courses required by the College of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation and the Division of Convergence Science, Graduate School of Frontier Science Initiative. Examples include “Optimization in Society and Engineering,” “Network Mechanism Design,” “Smart Supply Chain,” “Practical Data Science,” and “Data Driven Society and Industry.” Depending on their expertise and teaching experience, the appointee may also teach courses related to industrial systems, logistics, production and service systems, digital twins, smart industry, smart infrastructure management, transportation and mobility, disaster prevention and crisis management, project-based learning, and other related courses. The specific courses to be assigned will be decided in consultation with the appointee, taking into consideration their preferences, background, and the University’s teaching needs.
Note: Some of the courses listed above may be taught in English.
(2) Non-class duties:
Student guidance, research supervision, student recruitment, admissions, career guidance, social contribution, etc.
(3) Other duties deemed necessary by the head of the affiliated organization.

- Annual salary: 4 million yen - 10 million yen
- Working hours: 08:30-17:00
- Break time: 12:00-12:45
- Employment type: Regular employee
- Contract period: Nontenured
- Contract period description: The employment period is set for 5 years. Candidates may be eligible for conversion to tenured status until the mandatory retirement age at the end of the fixed term if they meet the prescribed requirements through a reappointment review, based on their achievements during this period.
Re-appointment Performance Review Criteria
- (1) Educational activities: such as lectures, practical training, seminars, research supervision, and student guidance
- (2) Research activities: such as presentations of research papers and conferences
- (3) Research funding and contributions to the university and society
For applicants currently employed at Kanazawa University, the combined duration of the current and any subsequent terms cannot exceed 10 years, which may result in a new employment period of less than 5 years for the new term.
