Faculty Position in Pharmacy and Aging Research
Since its founding in 1919, the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Université de Montréal has been a leader in training and research on drugs and pharmaceutical care thanks to its innovative, interdisciplinary approach to meeting society’s healthcare challenges. Now installed in the Jean-Coutu Pavilion, it boasts state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms equipped with the latest technological tools, and a bright agora that makes for a welcoming and productive learning environment. Its goal is to become a driver of change for the advancement of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences.
The selected candidate’s laboratory will be located at the Université de Montréal Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC), a dynamic and collaborative research environment equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure. IRIC brings together 26 principal investigators and over 350 members whose goal is to advance knowledge about cancer and contribute to the development of innovative therapies.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Through your undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, and your research activities, you will contribute to the faculty’s pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, you will promote your discipline and actively participate in the daily activities of a renowned institution. As such, you will:
- Develop an autonomous, innovative and internationally recognized research program in the field of aging, involving the study of cellular and molecular mechanisms of aging - such as senescence, inflammaging, metabolic, cancerous or immune alterations, including the identification of therapeutic targets and the development of innovative strategies in geroprotection, geoscience, cellular rejuvenation and immune modulation.
- Supervise undergraduate, master's, doctoral and post-doctoral students in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences;
- Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly in the fields of pathophysiology and pharmacology;
- Actively promote your discipline through conferences, publications and scientific activities; Participate in the institution's operations through committees and working groups.
Qualifications
- Hold a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, physiology, pharmacology, therapeutics, toxicology or any other field relevant to the position;
- Have research expertise and significant post-doctoral productivity in a field relevant to the position;
- Demonstrate potential to develop local, national and international collaborations; Demonstrate potential to establish collaborations with IRIC researchers;
- Demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality university teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels;
- Hold a salary award or be willing to apply to the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé's scholar-researcher program.
- Have adequate proficiency of the French language or be committed to learning it once hired, through the Université de Montréal’s French language support program, in accordance with the Université de Montréal language policy.
