Job Description Summary:
The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) is seeking a full-time (12-month) faculty member to join our team in the Department of Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, and Athletic Training (PTRSAT) to teach courses in a new hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) pathway. This program expansion was approved by Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) in November 2024 and the first cohort of students started in May 2025.

This newly created faculty position is designated as a non-tenure track position at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will have experience in online/hybrid instruction in a physical therapy program and excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as part of a remote/hybrid team. This position includes teaching content in neurologic, cardiopulmonary, pediatric, or other courses in the DPT curriculum.

The individual selected for this position will be responsible for activities that contribute to the program and department's mission and success, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and strategic plan as it pertains to teaching, research, and service. The purpose of this hybrid pathway for our DPT program is to address the unmet need for PTs in rural Kansas and other medically underserved areas by providing an accessible approach to DPT education that empowers students to invest in their local communities while benefitting from the remarkable value of an established, top-ranked public program.

Questions should be addressed to the search committee co-chairs, Dr Rebecca Bliss rbliss@kumc.edu and Dr Scarlett Morris smorris6@kumc.edu.

About the Department: The Department of Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, and Athletic Training (PTRSAT) is one of the largest departments in the School of Health Professions located on the medical campus in urban Kansas City, KS. The location and environment at KUMC provide excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary and interprofessional education and research collaborations. The PTRSAT department provides strong departmental support and infrastructure, including teaching and research mentorship, along with a supportive and collegial work environment.
