Position Summary

The Food and Agriculture Research Mission (FARM) in WashU’s School of Public Health (SPH) supports an exciting portfolio of interdisciplinary research and training activities at the intersection of public health, food and agriculture. FARM is one of six research networks in SPH’s Office of Networks and Innovation (ONI) that collectively form a dynamic research ecosystem inclusive of academic, non-profit, private and public sector partners working together to translate research outcomes to improve population health locally, regionally and globally.

We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented Project Coordinator to play an important role in the development and implementation of FARM.

Reporting to the FARM Senior Network Manager, the Project Coordinator will work closely with FARM leadership, ONI colleagues, affiliated faculty, students, and external partners to provide analytical, coordination and project management support as FARM builds and sustains a diverse community of scholarship and practice dedicated to promoting healthy, sustainable food systems.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Network Building, Partnerships, and Convenings
    • Assist with partnership building and relationship management across academia and the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
    • Maintain records of partnerships, collaborations and joint initiatives.
    • Support planning, promotion and coordination of the annual FARM Food Futures Forum.
    • Assist with other convenings, thematic workshops, advisory committee meetings and other activities.
  • Development and Support of FARM’s Research Portfolio
    • Support development and coordination of interdisciplinary research activities aligned with FARM’s thematic focus areas.
    • Assist in mapping FARM-relevant expertise and capabilities among WashU faculty, university centers and external partners.
    • Support the development, administration and oversight of FARM-supported research programs and initiatives.
    • Identify externally funded opportunities supporting FARM-related research and support teams in developing application materials.
  • Education and Training Programs
    • Support the design and implementation of training activities, including MPH practicum placements, doctoral research assistantships and postdoctoral fellowships.
    • Match FARM-supported students and trainees to SPH faculty, research programs and external partner organizations.
    • Help develop public health-focused entrepreneurship opportunities in collaboration with new and on-going WashU programs.
    • Develop and sustain an alumni network for FARM-supported students and postdocs.
  • Monitoring, Reporting, and Knowledge Products
    • Support data collection and synthesis for tracking of progress through a FARM dashboard, evaluations and reports to donors and other key stakeholders.
    • Contribute to the development of policy briefs, evidence summaries, presentations, and other FARM-related knowledge products.
    • Track FARM research and implementation outputs including grants, publications, presentations and pilot projects.
    • Coordinate with WashU and SPH communications staff to highlight FARM successes and support dissemination of research and training results.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    • Provide operational and programmatic support to the Office of Networks and Innovation.
    • Help foster and fortify connections among all of ONI’s research networks.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.

Work Experience: Relevant Experience (2 Years)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, food and nutrition sciences agriculture, environmental studies, policy, or related field.
  • Two years’ experience supporting research programs and operations, or like initiatives, in an academic, nonprofit, or private setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, food systems, agriculture, environmental studies, policy, or related field.
  • Five years’ experience supporting research programs and operations, or like initiatives, in an academic, nonprofit, or private setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills to work well with a diverse project team.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail. Able to manage multiple responsibilities at the same time and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of public health research and data analysis.
  • Ability to accurately assess the amount of time required for a task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work product.
  • Ability to collaborate with and motivate others
  • Ability to develop and deliver high quality presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently.

Grade G10

Salary Range $49,700.00 - $82,100.00 / Annually
