Finance Officer

We are seeking a highly organised Finance Officer to support the delivery of high-quality transactional finance services across the Departments of Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Materials, and the MPLS Divisional Office. This role is central to ensuring the accurate and timely processing of a high volume of financial transactions, helping to maintain strong supplier relationships and the integrity of departmental financial records.
The post-holder will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, staff and student expenses, accounts receivable transactions, and credit card statements, ensuring compliance with University financial regulations and procedures at all times. You will also play a key role in resolving invoice queries, reconciling supplier statements, and supporting month-end and year-end financial processes.
You will work closely with colleagues across the departments and the central Finance Division, building effective working relationships and providing excellent customer service. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a high-volume finance environment, with strong organisational and communication skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Confidence in using financial systems and spreadsheets is essential, and experience with systems such as Oracle Financials would be advantageous.
