About CCSU’s Financial Literacy Department
The Financial Literacy Department at CCSU is dedicated to supporting students and families in understanding financial aid, student aid eligibility, payment options, and long-term financial literacy. Through counseling, workshops, and direct support, we empower students to make informed financial decisions.
Position Profile
The Financial Literacy Assistant provides operational support to Student Financial Services. This role assists in reviewing and processing financial aid paperwork, counseling students and families on financial literacy, and providing guidance on financial aid, scholarships, grants, and payment plans.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of and ability to apply federal and state laws and regulations as well as university and BOR/CSCU policies and procedures. Knowledge of and ability to apply best practices of designated unit and program. Ability to collect, analyze, and prepare data. Ability to convene and collaborate with campus offices/departments and community resources. Ability to handle complex tasks, meet deadlines, prepare reports, effectively organize and manage detailed work and multiple priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to use academic technologies, equipment, platforms, and software. Demonstrated experience using SIS, document imaging systems and Microsoft Office suite.

Education: All applicants must possess a bachelor's degree
Experience and Training: Two (2) years of financial service office work experience. Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may be considered.
Ideal Candidate: Preference will be given to applicants with the following: Bilingual candidates who can provide support in 2+ languages

Compensation and Employee Benefits: The Financial Literacy Assistant is compensated at the Administrator II salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
