FINANCIAL SYSTEM ANALYST

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a FINANCIAL SYSTEM ANALYST. As a Financial System Analyst, you'll play a key role in shaping and improving UAB's financial systems and business processes. You'll research and analyze system and data needs, help design solutions, and ensure all changes meet university, local, state, and federal requirements. Working across departments, you'll support testing, implementation, and training to keep systems running smoothly and efficiently. The analyst will fulfill reporting and data analysis requests presented by senior management and applicable governing agencies. You'll also maintain clear documentation and champion data integrity and security. Oracle Grant experience is preferred. Experience creating and running SQL queries is a plus.

To develop the necessary knowledge and skills to assist in the development and enhancement of existing business processes and financial systems to ensure compliance with university, local, state, and federal regulations. To research and analyze system and data needs, support testing and implementation of upgrades and enhancements, and collaborate with diverse personnel to ensure successful system integration. To provide functional support, train staff, and maintain system documentation. To commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Investigates, tests and implements new or enhanced systems and determines system impacts.
  2. Identifies, reviews and resolves issues and provides support on various financial systems. Applies test strategies, test cases and test plans for processes based on system requirements.
  3. Retrieves, analyzes, stores and manipulates large amounts of data either for institution wide subject matter projects or for system capabilities and requirements.
  4. Fulfills reporting and data analysis requests and applies methodologies to prepare analyses to address specific questions presented by senior management and/or applicable governing agencies.
  5. Reconciles data between financial systems, supporting applications and external interfaces.
  6. Communicates within Financial Affairs on project status, proposals and technical issues.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary range: $60,835 - $62,660.04

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Information Systems or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
