The Opportunity:
As the Food Loss & Waste Prevention Coordinator for Washington State University (WSU) Extension in Skagit County, you will implement and evaluate a comprehensive, community-engaged food loss and waste prevention program. In this role, you advance WSU Extension's mission by translating research into practice, convening partners, and delivering education that supports environmental sustainability, community resilience, and equitable food systems.
Additional Information:
This is a part-time (50% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end one year after date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.
Monthly Salary: $2,344.50 - 3,517.79 at 50% FTE ( $4,689 - $7,033.58 at 100% FTE ) | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related experience in the program specialty. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
- Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer a Masters Degree with three (3) years related experience. Demonstrated teaching experience and evaluating community projects and experience in preparing educational materials for low literacy and diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels of responsibility and experience, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Workday.
- Knowledge of WSU Business Policies and Procedures in the areas of personnel, finance, and administration.
- Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
