Starting Salary Range: $15.34
Position Summary: The museum seeks to hire a dedicated individuals with relevant experience at the Nerman Museum to work alongside the Manager of Learning and Academic Engagement. The individual will work with museum administrative staff members to engage in a curatorial practicum and to implement the museum's mission, policies and procedures for interpretive activities, services and programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in or enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in art, art history, education, museum studies or related field.
- One academic year professional experience including customer service, office duties, or working with volunteers
- Computer skills and working knowledge of business applications: MS Office
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be detail oriented, committed to learning, and able to handle multiple priorities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
Position details include but are not limited to:
- Serve as a point of contact for educational programs. Work with the Nerman Museum staff as an integral member of the team. Assist the Manager of Learning and Academic Engagement with program management by organizing supplies, assisting with and keeping records of programs.
- Engage in a curatorial practicum with the Manager of Learning and Academic Engagement, the Executive Director and Chief Curator, and other staff to research, select, curate, and install an exhibition at the Nerman Museum to open in August.
- Work as a team and with administrative staff to create interpretive content for this exhibition and training materials for staff and volunteers to use about the exhibition.
- Plan and assist with implementing programming associated with the exhibition.
- Work with the Manager of Learning and Academic Engagement to identify areas where the museum's interpretation and visitor resources could be improved for increased accessibility, including creating new educational resources, and other projects to be determined.
- Inventory and order supply items and materials as needed for educational programs.
- Assist with presentations and other clerical duties as assigned.
- Maintain, update and reconcile database contact information for Art Education mailing lists.
- Other duties as assigned.
