Full Professor and Chair of the Soil Physics and Land Management group
Job Summary: The Soil Physics and Land Management chair group at Wageningen University & Research focuses on advancing understanding of soil physical processes, their role in soil functions, and sustainable soil and land management to address global challenges in climate, water, and food security. The role involves leading research on soil physical processes, soil-plant-water interactions, and soil management and land restoration.
Responsibilities: Provide academic and operational management, including overseeing education and research quality, finances, and HR. Define research strategy, lead and motivate the team, maintain international visibility, create new research directions, collaborate across disciplines, develop externally funded programs, and contribute to BSc, MSc, and PhD education to uphold the institution's reputation.
Qualifications and Requirements: Hold a PhD in soil physics with a strong international track record; demonstrate experienced, inclusive leadership that fosters development, collaboration, and innovation; possess excellent didactic skills with experience in supervising students; have a proven record in securing funding; and provide a vision for strengthening the group's research and education nationally and internationally.
