Full Time Faculty - Chemistry
Macomb Community College teaching Faculty demonstrate deep subject matter knowledge and provide effective instruction to students using various modalities including, but not limited to, on campus, online, remote, hybrid, and flexible learning. They develop, modify, and ensure currency of curriculum and course syllabi. Faculty are responsive to their students and support their success through timely communication and feedback, assessment of student learning, regular office hours, etc. They are active members of the college community and attend department meetings as required.
- Primary responsibility will be to teach chemistry (general, organic and biochemistry) classes, on ground, hybrid and online. Propose and create new courses, refine and modify existing courses, assist in course assessments of student academic achievement, identify teaching and lab materials for assigned classes.
- Develop, update, and refine discipline courses and programs.
- Develop course assessments that will accurately measure achievement of student learning outcomes and participate in assessment of student learning.
- Assess student academic achievement.
- Develop and maintain course materials in the College's Learning Management System (LMS), including, but not limited to, announcements, syllabus, and gradebook.
- Refine curriculum and pedagogy to reflect current evidence-based practices.
- Keep gradebook up to date and submit final grades by published deadlines.
- Engage in recruiting and mentorship of adjunct faculty. Provide feedback on instruction of adjunct faculty as assigned.
- Participate and actively cooperate with the department and Academic and Workforce Education to meet accreditation standards.
- Maintain faculty credentials as required by the College's accrediting agencies.
- Hold office hours per collective bargaining agreement and needs of the department.
- Assist in identifying and facilitating student clinical experiences, if applicable.
- Identify teaching and lab materials for assigned courses, if applicable.
- Actively participate on area and college committees and perform related duties and activities necessary to conduct the work of the area.
- Other duties as assigned in compliance with the MCCFO collective bargaining agreement.
Master's degree in the teaching discipline or related field; or Master's degree in any discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline or related field.
