Job Summary:

As an important member of the GI community practice team, the Gastroenterologist will have clinical responsibilities including outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital consultations, endoscopic procedures, and nights/weekends call coverage.

The gastroenterologist will primarily see outpatients at the UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital and Longmont GI clinic 5 days per week (3 half-days outpatient clinic, 5 half-days outpatient endoscopy). Additionally, they will provide inpatient GI consultative services and nights/weekends call coverage at Longs Peak Hospital up to 8 weeks per year in rotation with other members of the Longmont CU GI community practice group.

The successful applicant for this position will be someone who communicates appropriately and effectively with patients, staff, consultants, and colleagues, has outstanding customer service skills, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluation and management of GI disorders within the scope of a general gastroenterologist, including:

  • GERD
  • Dysphagia
  • IBS/functional GI disorders
  • Eosinophilic Esophagitis
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Pancreatitis
  • Occult iron deficiency anemia
  • GI motility disorders

Interpretation of GI diagnostics including:

  • Routine endoscopic procedures within the scope of a general gastroenterologist (polypectomy, treatment of upper/lower GI bleeding, endoscopic dilation)
  • Capsule endoscopy interpretation
  • Wireless pH capsule placement (Bravo)
  • Hydrogen Breath Testing

Additional experience and skills

  • Diagnostic ERCP and EUS
  • Therapeutic ERCP and EUS

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Longmont, CO.

The CU GI Community Practice Group is a sub-section of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology providing community based clinical care at four UC Health satellite facilities across the front range; Highlands Ranch Hospital, Lone Tree Specialty Clinic, Cherry Creek Medical Center, and Longs Peak Hospital.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Academic rank will be determined during the interview process after discussion between you and the department about your previous experience and academic desires.

Instructor:

  • MD or DO
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine
  • Board certification or active board eligibility in Gastroenterology
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, an active State of Colorado medical license
  • Must have an active DEA license on or before hire date

Sr. Instructor:

  • MD or DO
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine
  • Board certification or active board eligibility in Gastroenterology
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, an active State of Colorado medical license
  • Must have an active DEA license on or before hire date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Therapeutic Endoscopy training (ERCP, EUS) - All ranks

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, community organizations and donors
  • Candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community and work toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:

HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $300,000-350,000

Senior Instructor: $300,000-350,000

Assistant Professor: $300,000-$350,000

Associate Professor: $350,000-$375,000

Professor: $375,000-$425,000

Total Compensation (base + variable): $500,000 to $600,000
