"German Language, Department of Education and Professional Studies - Adjunct Faculty"

University of Maryland Global Campus seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site at Eglin Air Force Base, FL in the World Languages/Cultures program. Specifically, the following course(s):

Elementary German I (GERM 111): An introduction to the German language. The objective is to communicate in German in some concrete, real-life situations using culturally appropriate language. Aspects of German life and culture are explored through the German language.

Required Education and Experience:

• Master's Degree in German, German language pedagogy, German linguistics, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Three (3) years of experience teaching the German language.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
• This position is specifically to teach on-site at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Terminal Degree in German Language or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.

The Adjunct Faculty Role at UMGC: Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning. Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations. Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments. Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program. Provide feedback to your program director on possible curricular improvements.
