Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in sport management, kinesiology, or related field. Collegiate Level Coaching/Training Experience

Primary Responsibilities:

Summary Function: Sul Ross State University, an NCAA Division III institution located in Alpine, Texas, and a member of the American Southwest Conference, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a graduate assistant position in the department of athletics. SRSU sponsors 12 men’s and women’s athletic teams.

Scope: The successful applicant will work closely with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in coordinating all strength and conditioning workouts to increase competitive edge of all SRSU athletic programs.

Duties Essential: Assist Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with planning, implementing, and executing workouts for all student-athletes. Assist with scheduling practices for both in season and out of season programs. Assist with monitoring all workouts. Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Working Conditions Usual: Office conditions; standard hours. Some nights and weekends may be required. Position is Security Sensitive. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

About SRSU: Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. At an elevation of 4,480 feet, and on the periphery of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine enjoys mild winters and cool summers.
