About the role

The Graduate Studies Manager is a key senior administrative role within the Student Administration Team. You will lead on the operational management of the graduate administration team, providing expert level administration and support and take a key role in the development of relevant departmental policy.

The post holder will manage the primary line of communication between the Graduate Studies Office of the University and the department, working under the direction of the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) and Head of Student Administration and graduate Programme Directors.

Other key relationships include colleges, the Proctors office, Divisional staff, University Offices (e.g., student immigration), and Student Welfare.

About you

To thrive in this varied and engaging role, we are looking for someone with:

  1. Experience in administration, preferably in higher education or a similar field, with demonstrable knowledge of systems and procedures for academic and / or student support.
  2. Experience of line management or directing the work of other staff, achieving results through a team-based approach.
  3. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  4. Ability to work independently, and under pressure; prioritising competing demands in a challenging environment.
  5. Demonstrable ability of managing small-scale, local, or operational team-focused projects.

About the team

You will be responsible for three permanent members of the team, and any temporary staff, providing guidance and support, distributing workload, and setting objectives accordingly.
