Personal Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a Personal Assistant to provide high-level administrative and organisational support to Professor Miles Carroll and Professor Anneke Lucassen within the Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of their diaries and research groups, enabling them to focus on strategic and academic priorities. Acting as a central point of contact, you will deal with a wide range of matters, including those of a confidential nature, and support the wider administrative team to ensure the effective running of the Centre.

You will be responsible for managing complex diaries, acting as a first point of contact, handling correspondence, and organising meetings and travel, including international arrangements and visas. You will prepare agendas, papers and minutes, draft responses and briefing notes, and provide administrative and financial support including expenses and invoices. You will maintain accurate records and filing systems, support research group administration, follow and advise on procedures, improve processes, and build effective working relationships across the department.

It is essential that you are educated to GCSE level or equivalent, and have experience of diary management, including complex travel arrangements, and the ability to draft correspondence and produce well-presented documents. Excellent IT skills including email, Word and Excel, strong numeracy skills, and experience handling confidential information with tact and discretion are essential for this role. You will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
