Salary Range: Up to $72,000 - $73,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Type: Full Time

Job Details

Job Summary

The Grant Accountant II assists in the financial management of sponsored projects through the application of basic fiscal principles and administrative regulations governing grants and contracts. This role is responsible for the application of advanced accounting knowledge to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and the acquisition of extramural funds.

This is a temporary position dependent on availability of funds and/or departmental need.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Oversees Accounts Receivable management/collections.
  2. Prepares Letter of Credit drawdowns.
  3. Prepares financial reports.
  4. Evaluates financial activities of service/recharge centers and facilities.
  5. Assists in the implementation of cost accounting procedures.
  6. Responds to various data requests/statistics.
  7. Initiates award accounts and set up budgets.
  8. Provides direction and guidance to Grant Accountant I and II.
  9. Assists in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report.
  10. Assists with or lead special projects as directed.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four years of experience in grant or related accounting and/or post award administration of sponsored projects.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a concentration in accounting or a related field.
  • Four years of grant accounting experience to include financial reporting and account reconciliation.
  • Similar experience in a governmental or higher education environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office conditions.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional

This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
