Position Highlights

The Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center (SWEHSC) in the Center for Toxicology at the College of Pharmacy invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Grant and Contract Administrator III. This position will prepare, interpret and review the Centers program grants, specifically the grants for SWEHSC and the training grant for environmental toxicology in human disease. The position will manage the day-to-day activities of the center, provide assistance to all the cores within SWEHSC, and ensures compliance with university policies and procedures with grants.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Gather and interpret data including financial, student information, publications, and grant funding. Create and present data for grant progress reports and grant applications to key stakeholders and department leadership. (Data will be gathered from a variety of sources, this may include researching websites, communicating with faculty or other departments, and running/analyzing financial reports).
  • Prepare and review the competing and non-competing renewal process for the SWEHSC grants including compiling data, developing budget proposals, interpreting data, and providing findings to leadership and faculty members.
  • Supervisor the day-to-day monitoring of budgets and invoice processing for the multiple, complex grants for the department.
  • Serve as main point of contact for all trainees appointed to the T32 training grant.
  • Interpret rules and regulations of granting agency to ensure budgets are prepared and managed in accordance with training grant rules and guidelines as well as University policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely reports to granting agency regarding all current and past training grant appointments in accordance with specific training grant requirements.
  • Oversee external awards to graduate students and Postdoctoral Research Associates funded by the department's complex training grant (T32). This includes calculating the tuition and stipend payments, uploading and reconciling the training grant spreadsheet and ensuring entries follow grant guidelines. Coordinate with college's business office to ensure reconciliation is completed fully.
  • Alert T32 grant trainees regarding upcoming deadlines for registration, updates to student employment, compliance with grant regulations, etc., and liaises with graduate program leadership about deadlines and internal funding sources.
  • Act as liaison between SWEHSC members, internal advisory board, external advisory board, and NIH staff.
  • Serve as committee member on the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) grant administrators' group.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel skills (including graphs, charts, and pivot tables).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
