Job Summary

The Grants and Contract Analyst is a professional within OSP in the support of sponsored research activities. The Grants and Contract Analyst supports the full life cycle of sponsored research administration, including proposal review and submission, award acceptance and negotiation, amendment and modification review, and drafting of outgoing subawards and subcontracts.

This position requires a strong understanding of federal regulations and proficiency in research administration systems and tools. It is responsible for providing substantive professional advice on the development of project proposals and non-financial post-award management. A strong understanding of proposal budgets and external funding processes is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in any relevant field or a Bachelor’s with 3+ years of experience in an area of expertise in grants management, accounting, and/or proposal development.
  • Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance (2CFR 200) and sponsor regulations.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, advanced problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to develop a customer-focused work style.
  • Ability to work well in teams and independently to complete tasks.
  • Proficient with strong computer and web-based experience, including Microsoft Office products, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and SharePoint or similar document management systems.
  • Experience with electronic administration systems such as Huron, InfoEd, Cayuse SP, or similar research administration platforms.
  • Ability to work in teams and independently to complete tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Public Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in research administration, preferably higher education, and grant development, including demonstrated ability to develop, review, write/edit grants as well as create budgets/budget narratives and submission of proposals.
  • Knowledge of electronic research administration submission portals such as grants.gov, the eRA Commons, ASSIST, research.gov, NSPIRES is preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and university grant programs that support research, instruction, and public service across disciplines and their submission processes.
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) Certification or Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator (CPRA).
