Graphic Designer
Job Description
KCU is seeking an experienced full-time graphic designer to join the Office of University Relations. Under the supervision of the creative director, the graphic designer will develop outstanding visual communications as an integral member of a comprehensive marketing and communications team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create engaging and effective visual communications components for both internal and external audiences, including: print and digital publications; advertising materials; event collateral; photo and video assets; elements for use in web, email and social media applications; presentations; digital and physical signage; University-branded products; and more.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to requests for creative services, ensuring thorough and timely completion of all assigned projects by working closely with clients, stakeholders and colleagues to meet project needs and expectations.
- Interpret and effectively translate creative concepts, revisions and other instructions as provided by the creative director to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Collaborate with other members of University Relations, as well as members of other University departments, to identify and pursue opportunities to promote University initiatives and increase brand awareness through creative marketing strategies and tactics.
- Assist with the maintenance of an accurate, current and comprehensive library (both digital and physical) of creative components, project archives and brand assets (such as logos, branded graphics, artwork, stationery, etc.).
- Provide support (including creative services and general assistance) for University events, ranging from private luncheons to large-scale signature events such as Commencement and Homecoming, throughout the year.
- Manage relationships with vendors to obtain accurate estimates and production timelines, review proofs and ensure delivery of high-quality products.
- Appropriately and accurately convey the KCU brand identity in all materials while consistently meeting all brand and style standards.
- Keep up with current design trends, techniques, vendors, products and capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Possess a strong understanding of visual communications with a primary focus on professional print and digital graphic design.
- Possess a working knowledge of print production, including pre-flighting, selecting paper stock, managing tight deadlines, reviewing proofs and working closely with printers to ensure timely delivery of accurate and consistent print materials.
- Possess a working knowledge of digital design, including digital publishing, creating graphics and other assets for web, email and social media, and digital advertising.
- Must work well under time-constraints within a team setting or individually.
- Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, customer service, project and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe CC (primarily InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Acrobat Pro) and email layout (Constant Contact).
- Ability to capture and edit both still photography and videography is desired.
- Ability to correctly implement and retain KCU Brand and Style Guide requirements, as well as AP Style, in written copy used in creative projects is required. Experience in writing and editing copy is desired.
