This senior academic role offers an opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven institution dedicated to widening participation and supporting student success.

The postholder will be responsible for overseeing curriculum development, validation and revalidation processes, academic quality, teaching delivery, and student outcomes. Working in close partnership with the Executive Dean and other senior leaders, the role will ensure programme compliance with regulatory frameworks and promote excellence across the academic portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic leadership across curriculum design, validation, and quality assurance in alignment with OfS, QAA (2024), and awarding body standards.
  • Manage the delivery of programmes, including timetabling, staffing (including weekend teaching), and operational oversight.
  • Lead and line manage academic staff, with responsibility for performance management, CPD planning, and professional development.
  • Participate in academic governance, including exam boards, curriculum committees, and quality review panels.
  • Monitor student satisfaction, progression, and outcomes, using data to inform continuous improvement.
  • Support institutional strategy by fostering inclusive academic practice and ensuring alignment with the Academy’s ethos and goals.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with awarding partners, university bodies, and relevant regulators.

Essential Criteria:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • UK-recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PGCHE), or willingness to complete one within two years.
  • Fellowship of Advance HE or willingness to achieve within 12 months of appointment.
  • Significant academic leadership experience within a UK higher education setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK higher education policy, the QAA Quality Code (2024), and OfS compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching, student wellbeing, safeguarding, and academic excellence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Doctorate (PhD or equivalent).
  • Experience in small or newly established HE institutions.
  • Familiarity with community-based or widening participation-led education models.

Benefits:

  • Generous leave entitlement and flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • Access to tailored CPD and leadership development.
  • Inclusive and supportive institutional culture.
  • Opportunity to contribute to an institution committed to educational equity, empowerment, and impact.

The recruitment process will commence promptly upon receipt of applications.
