Horticultural Specialist
The primary purpose of this position is to perform maintenance on the primary campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- 30%- Specialized Horticulture Pruning, Disease, and Pest identification
- 20%- General Overall Campus Grounds Upkeep, Cleanup, and Tidiness
- 10%- Fertilizer and Pesticide Application
- 10%- Landscape Plant Installations and Maintenance
- 10%- Skills in the use of machinery, tools, and Equipment
- 10%- Crew Lead
- 5% Hardscape paver maintenance
- 5% Irrigation system maintenance
This position is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of progressive experience in horticultural work; or associate’s degree in agriculture and natural resources, greenhouse and grounds maintenance, horticulture technology, landscape gardening or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates:
- Valid NC Driver’s license
- NC Pesticide Applicators License or ability to acquire within six months
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years experience in Horticulture.
