- Salary package $130,622 – $141,623 (incl. of superannuation) plus annual leave loading
- Full-time, 12-month fixed term role
- Generous leave and other entitlements including 3 additional days leave between Christmas and New Year, up to 26 weeks paid parental leave and 13 weeks personal leave accrual in first year of service
Macquarie University is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Consultant to join our HR Business Partnering team during an exciting period of organisational transformation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a collaborative, high performing team supporting two of the University’s faculties.
This team is made up of Lead HRBPs and HR Consultants, dedicated to supporting the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences and the Macquarie Business School. With a recently implemented new HR operating model, including setting up a new HR Shared Services function, the team is well set up for success and we’re looking for the right person to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact.
Reporting to the Lead HRBPs, you will provide hands-on strategic and advisory HR support to the University leaders and managers across both faculties. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely across the full team (Lead HRBPs and HR Consultant peers) collaborating on everything from complex case management through to workforce planning, reporting and faculty-specific initiatives.
You’ll also partner with our Centre of Expertise (including Capability, Culture & Inclusion, Employee Relations, and Talent Acquisition) and HR Shared Services to ensure seamless delivery of specialised services and efficient HR transactions.
Specifically, the role will:
- Working as an integral part of the team to support the development and implementation of a broad range of HR activities including workforce planning and transformation, talent management and succession planning that integrate with functional strategies.
- Provide timely and consistent coaching, advice, and support to managers including in relation to performance management, organisational development, remuneration, leave management, recognition and reward.
- Work in partnership with the Lead HRBPs and peer HR Consultants to ensure managers are supported to work through workplace relations issues.
- Contribute to faculty-specific projects and broader initiatives aimed at continuously improving HR services and outcomes.
We need someone with solid HR generalist experience who is confident working independently, picks things up quickly, and genuinely enjoys being part of a team. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven HR generalist experience in a complex, client focused environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and get up to speed fast
- Experience working with HR frameworks including job design, remuneration, talent and performance management
- Proven ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated success and genuine commitment to working cooperatively with peers to achieve shared goals.
- Confidence working within a COE model and collaborating across specialist HR functions
- Sound knowledge of employment legislation, enterprise agreements and modern awards
- A bachelor’s degree in HR or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in the higher education sector will be highly regarded but is not essential
