HR Generalist
Location: Wooster, OH
The HR Generalist provides administrative and operational support for student employment and HR data processes. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate records, assisting with the onboarding of student workers, and ensuring data integrity within the college's HR systems. The position works closely with campus departments, student employees, and HR colleagues to support consistent and compliant employment practices.
Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Employment Coordination
- Serve as a primary point of contact for student employment inquiries.
- Assist departments and supervisors with student hiring processes.
- Ensure compliance with federal work-study guidelines and institutional policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student employment status, job descriptions, and pay rates.
- Support onboarding and orientation for student workers.
HR Data Entry & Records Management
- Enter and update employee and student worker data in the HRIS system.
- Maintain digital and physical personnel files in accordance with college policies.
- Assist with regular audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Generate reports and summaries as requested by HR leadership.
General HR Support
- Manage HR student employees.
- Act as a back-up for HR functions such as Tuition Remission payments. Provide administrative support for HR projects and initiatives.
- Assist with employee relations issues as needed.
- Collaborate with payroll to ensure smooth processing of student wages.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
- 0-3 years' experience in Human Resources.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Skills:
The qualified candidate will demonstrate evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge:
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word Press, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and to conduct oneself in a highly professional and ethical manner.
