Human Services Instructor
SUNY Schenectady invites applications for a full-time Human Services Instructor to join a collaborative, student-centered academic community. We seek an educator who is committed to effective teaching and interested in helping students prepare for careers and continued education in human services and related fields. Candidates with a range of academic and professional experiences are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will teach a 15-credit course load per semester and contribute to a department that values high-quality instruction, professional growth, and strong connections between theory and practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach undergraduate Human Services courses in a variety of formats, including in-person and online
- Develop and deliver instruction that integrates foundational theory with applied practice
- Foster an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes student success
- Hold regular office hours and provide academic guidance to students
- Participate in departmental and college service, including assessment and committee work
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to teaching and the human services field
- Contribute to a collegial and supportive academic community
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- Prior teaching or training experience
- Professional experience in a human services-related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in a community college setting
- Familiarity with OASAS guidelines and CASAC certification
- Experience with online or technology-enhanced instruction
- Relevant licensure or certification in a human services discipline
- Doctoral degree in a related field
Special Information:
- Employment commences on August 17, 2026

- Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official college transcripts
