HVAC Mechanic
Position Title: HVAC Mechanic
School/Division: Plant Operations
Office: Facilities and Operations - Physical Plant
Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time
Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Central Utilities, the HVAC Mechanic supports facilities and operations for the Physical Plant department. This is a full-time, on-site position; the available shift is presently Tuesday – Saturday from 3pm – 11pm.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supports the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of: low pressure boilers, steam PRV stations, commercial and residential refrigeration, centrifugal chillers, energy management systems and DDC controls (Siemens Apogee and Insight 600, Trane Summit, Delta), pneumatic controls, package roof top units, heat pumps, split units, ductwork installations, insulation installations, PTAC's, window air conditioners, fan coils, air-handlers, heat exchangers, closed loop heating and cooling systems, humidification and dehumidification systems, cooling towers, glycol systems, hood exhaust systems, pumps, motors and motor starters, sewage ejectors, fuel deliveries, elevators, and all associated auxiliary equipment, system components, controls, and safety devices.
- Troubleshooting and emergency response for all related areas.
- Performs welding, cutting, pipefitting, machining, rigging and material handling.
- Responds to service calls in residential, academic, office, commercial, and industrial environments.
- Performs indoor and outdoor work responsibilities year-round.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A valid driver's license is required.
- At least 5-10 years of experience in the HVAC industry.
- EPA Refrigeration Universal Certification required.
- Possess the knowledge, skill, and experience with all phases of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration.
- Ability to stoop, stand, climb, and frequently lift equipment and building materials to complete tasks.
- Ability to move around the grounds of the campus as needed.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pneumatic and DCC Control experience preferred.
