Minimum Qualifications
- Education: M.D. or D.O. degree with board certification in Infectious Disease.
- Experience: 10 years or more of Clinician experience and 5 years or more of experience in medical education or administration, with proven leadership skills.
- Licensure: Active medical license.
- ACGME Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of ACGME standards and graduate medical education regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in research and academic medicine.
- Previous leadership roles within residency or fellowship programs
Essential Functions and percent of time
Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine (WSU BSOM) and Premier Health are seeking a physician that is an experienced educator to serve as the Infectious Disease Program Director to lead and oversee the Infectious Disease fellowship program. This role requires an innovative leader with a passion for education, clinical excellence, and development. The ID Program Director will be responsible for all aspects of the program, including curriculum development, faculty oversight, accreditation compliance, fellowship recruitment, and fostering a positive learning environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Graduate Medical Education (GME) leadership and others to ensure the program's success and alignment with Premier Health and WSU BSOM's mission of providing exceptional patient care while advancing medical education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, develop, and oversee day to day operations of the Infectious Disease program.
- Ensure compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform ongoing clinical activity in a manner reflecting the highest quality of care and professionalism.
- Lead efforts to recruit high-quality fellowship candidates, participating in interviews and selection.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that fosters fellow growth, competency, and readiness for board certification.
- Mentor and support medical students, fellows, and faculty, encouraging professional development and a collaborative learning environment.
- Monitor fellow performance, providing feedback and support to ensure achievement of competency milestones.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
- Serve as a liaison between the program, the medical community, and relevant stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Collaborate with partner institutions as needed, to capitalize on outpatient clinic experiences as well as unique patient populations.
- Collaborate with other departments and program directors to ensure cohesive residency and fellowship education across specialties.
- Participate in the continuous improvement and evaluation of the fellowship program.
