Job Summary

The Office of Information Technology encourages applications for an Information Security Portfolio Manager! This role will develop and manage tactical and operational plans in alignment with the department’s strategic goals and is responsible for facilitating the progression of projects and initiatives within the Security & Identity department’s portfolio. The Portfolio Manager balances resources across projects and programs, and ensures that the portfolio as a whole delivers value to the organization. A key component of this role includes providing maintenance for and reporting on the health and maturity of our campus information security program, with responsibilities focused on progress towards initiative alignment to risks.

This position ensures that IT security policies and principles are implemented, measured, and improved for enhanced organizational effectiveness, security posture, and customer-focused delivery of services. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Portfolio Management

This position will be responsible for coordinating programs and projects in alignment with departmental, OIT, and campus goals. In that regard, it will:

  • Develop and maintain technical project schedules and status reports as required.
  • Work on project planning efforts, including defining tasks, estimating durations, and tracking target completion dates.
  • Coordinate and support the efforts of project team members to stay aligned with timelines and objectives.
  • Track, monitor, and ensure effective follow-through on action items related to central initiatives and projects.
  • Assist the teams in building service planning documentation and tracking mechanisms for service delivery assessment and alignment projection.
  • Establish methods for recurring and ad-hoc reporting on program success and drive progress toward those metrics.
  • Align and advise the departmental leadership team of day-to-day operational and strategic issues.
  • Provide regular briefings on the portfolio while acting as a point of coordination on behalf of departmental leadership, and recommend actions to maintain momentum and achieve objectives.

Communication & Change Management; Stakeholder Management

This position will serve as the departmental lead for external communications and collaborations that support the success of strategic priorities. In that regard, it will:

  • Collaborate with OIT’s Organizational Effectiveness team to promote program objectives, goals, responsibilities, expectations, risks, and feedback.
  • Prepare and edit reports, communications, and presentations in support of departmental priorities, ensuring clear, consistent, and timely touchpoints about initiatives to all relevant partners.
  • Communicate program and project direction, approach, priorities, events and status to program resources and business sponsors.
  • Provide updates to campus partners and customers on time-sensitive security-related communications.
  • Contribute to the development of security awareness communication and content development, and organizational change efforts by engaging with department, unit, and partners.
  • Encourage proactive high-quality customer service, engagement, and relations and provide support to departmental team members as needed.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key partners and customers to ensure services remain responsive and meet customer needs and service goals.

What You Should Know

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is available as a full-time position with hybrid working options; The position will require in-person presence on an infrequent basis at the University of Colorado Boulder campus.

The salary range is $90,400 to $101,720 annually.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or a combination of education and job-related experience as detailed below may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, which could include achieving resolution to complex technical or business issues, leading information technology work in the IT industry demonstrating technical and business expertise, and managing information technology programs, projects, or services.

  • Skills in conflict resolution and negotiation;
  • Ability to manage scope, time and resources using standard commercially available tools;
  • Ability to lead project and initiative execution and communication;
  • Ability to develop risk, compliance, and assurance measurement strategies;
  • Ability to prepare risk management reports;
  • Ability to capture customer satisfaction and service performance feedback;
  • Ability to creatively tackle problems and to influence outcomes through persuasion, effective communications and relationship building.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience with portfolio management;
  • Familiarity with one or more IT software development lifecycles (SDLC’s) used for IT projects including Agile development (Scrum, kanban, etc.);
  • Experience with an organization performing an information security function;
  • Experience working in higher education;
  • PROSCI certification.
