Introduction:

The Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching, and Technology (CELTT) is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering high-quality computing and media resources and services for student learning, administrative operations, faculty and staff development, and delivery of instruction and services. The primary purpose of this position is to support information security, computer and A/V tech support, and large-scale procurement for the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions) 

  • **Conducts information security investigations as directed by the CELTT coordinator.
  • **Advises the CELTT coordinator on information practices and procedures.
  • **Keeps abreast of information security threats and protective measures.
  • **Acts as a liaison between UH ITS Information Security and the campus.
  • **Reviews campus Information Security standards and forwards recommendations to the CELTT coordinator.
  • **Evaluates A/V needs and requirements, installs and supports end users in use.
  • **Manages the end-to-end setup and configuration of both Mac (macOS) and PC (Windows) hardware and software to ensure "ready-to-use" status for end-users.
  • **Performs equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, replacement, repair, and upgrades on professional broadcast and production equipment.
  • **Monitors and participates in responding to any, including complex and in-depth computer and A/V queries and concerns that come via email, phone, or in-person from faculty, staff, other institutions, and community members.
  • **Evaluates new technologies for application in classrooms, offices, and meeting spaces.
  • **Installs computer-related and A/V equipment.
  • Researches and consults with faculty on new technologies, and makes recommendations.
  • Makes thoughtful and informed recommendations to the College regarding the procurement of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots software problems as needed.
  • **Advises individuals and groups having diverse viewpoints and opinions on computer and A/V needs, and recommends the most appropriate, effective, and efficient solution.
  • Advises and trains staff and end users of those systems and resources for which this position is responsible.
  • **Manages a direct report, including performance evaluations, goal setting, and technical training.
  • Trains faculty and staff on software and best practices for education.
  • Assists clients in interpreting and adhering to federal, UH, and KCC policies and guidelines.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge in the computing field by pursuing a course of professional development as agreed upon with the immediate supervisor and department head.
  • **Performs equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, replacement, repair, and upgrades for computer systems, production equipment, and A/V.
  • Familiarity with UH procurement policy, standards, and practice.
  • **Executes procurement of computers and other equipment as needed by the department.
  • **Follows and implements directives and guidance related to best practices from the University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services.
  • **Ensures the consistent adoption, implementation, and enforcement of recommendations issued through the University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services.
  • **Keeps abreast of recommendations issued through the University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services and takes timely action as needed.
  • **Continuously monitors and leads initiatives to enhance system reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Supervise and mentor IT staff to ensure that administrative directives and industry best practices are understood and followed.
  • Works outside normally scheduled work hours, including day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours as needed and directed by the CELTT coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate degree in Communications, Information Technology, Educational Technology, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Data Science, Forensic Science, Law with focus on IT or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for information security, customer care services, and procurement, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawai'i broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Considerable working knowledge of information security threats, practices, protocols, UH procurement policy, practices, and standards as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standards and evolving information technology concepts, principles, and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware, and software associated with information security and customer care services as related to Mac and PC computers, production equipment, A/V, and other technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluate, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
  • Proven ability to comprehend, interpret, and implement administrative directives and guidance to ensure IT operations align with organizational standards and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, and members, and individuals.
  • If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  • Strong understanding of IT service management, cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining IT best practices, standards, and governance.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Extensive working knowledge of setting up, configuring, and maintaining computer systems.
  • Extensive working knowledge of server security protocols.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of mobile devices and operating systems such as iOS and Android.
  • Extensive knowledge & demonstrated proficiency in the use of compression tools to optimize files for multiple platforms (Online, offline, print, and mobile).
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in troubleshooting and maintaining hardware associated with computer and A/V systems.
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience executing procurement through the UH system.
  • Demonstrated ability to use social media tools and mobile applications.
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience working with people of diverse socioeconomic and multicultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work a variable work schedule, and work outside normally scheduled work hours, including day, night, weekend and/or holiday hours, as directed.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak, read, comprehend, interpret, and write fluently in English; and interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials.
