Minimum Qualifications: A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an ALA-accredited master’s degree in librarianship or information science.
Position Summary: This position supports the Law Library’s research team and participates in the development and delivery of legal research instruction. The librarian will play a key role in supporting faculty scholarship and instructional needs. This position reports to the Associate Director for Research Services.
Additional Requirements: A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an ALA-accredited master’s degree in librarianship or information science. Degrees must be completed prior to a candidate’s starting date of employment. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification: Prior role as an academic law librarian.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Advanced legal research skills including the ability to conduct in-depth research, synthesize research results, and deliver a high quality, comprehensive final product; Proven ability in project management and development and evaluation of services and programs; Demonstrated ability to work with educational technologies and knowledge of legal research instruction design; Excellent verbal and written communication skills. An established record of service and teamwork.

Duties/Responsibilities:
LIBRARY ADMINISTRATION
- Research, Reference and Informal Instructional Services: Provide synchronous and asynchronous informal legal research instruction and materials as needed. Participate in research and reference services. PERCENTAGE OF TIME:
- Faculty Services: In coordination with the Associate Director for Research Services: Accurately and promptly answer faculty requests for research and reference assistance and promote Law Library services and resources. Provide training to faculty members on research and teaching resources. Maintain regular contact with Law School faculty. PERCENTAGE OF TIME: 25%
- Law Library Research Assistant Program: Supervise and train students in the Law Library Research Assistant program. Provide training for research assistants hired by individual faculty members. PERCENTAGE OF TIME: 15%
- Law Library Operations: Contribute to teams and committees by planning, evaluating, assessing, marketing and implementing services, resources and technologies. Support initiatives in the Law Library and School of Law strategic plans. PERCENTAGE OF TIME: 10%
- Professional Development and Other Duties: Participate in professional, scholarly, and service activities. Maintain knowledge of emerging library and legal education trends. Acquire new skills and participate in other projects as needed. PERCENTAGE OF TIME: 10%
