Instructional Support Specialist
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Instructional Support Specialist is responsible for supporting faculty in delivering specialized assigned area courses.
Serves as a liaison to ensure the efficient overall administration and delivery of the unique courses and related services to both faculty and students.
This is a security-sensitive position related to student records and confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage databases.
- Create, maintain, and edit databases for testing, reports, and promotional and/or course related mailings.
- Assist full-time and adjunct faculty for online testing.
- Prepare, edit and distribute student tests.
- Schedule instructors for test proctoring.
- Publish online exams and schedules proctored or practice/self-assessment.
- Proctor exams as necessary.
- Grade and record lab skills, quizzes, and exams.
- Process and distribute instructional newsletters and grade notifications.
- Distributes and collects SEOI forms.
- Duplicate instructional materials.
- Screen visitors.
- Answer phone calls.
- Sort and distribute faxes and mail.
- Assist with Help Desk.
- Manage student queries.
- Refer and schedule students for regular and make-up orientations.
- Operate various instructional office equipment.
- Maintain and protect applicant files, student testing and grading files.
- Purge and archives files as necessary.
- Maintains personal timesheets.
- Assists with asset management and organizational stewardship.
- Maintains program inventory and ordering of supplies.
- As necessary, assists and guides students in all lab activities including equipment set-up and usage, restocking of supplies and preparation of laboratory practice areas and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates degree, or higher, preferred
- 2 years general office experience required
- 3 years general office experience preferred
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
