Instructor/Assistant Professor of Finance
Frostburg State University, College of Business, Engineering, Computing & Analytics seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Finance position for its Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance. The primary teaching area is within the Finance area but additional opportunities for support teaching in the areas of Accounting or Economics may exist. This position is to begin Fall 2026. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included.
Responsibilities:
Teach primarily undergraduate courses in Finance, like: Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions Management, Securities Investments, Entrepreneurial Finance, with support teaching in Accounting, and/or Economics at the introductory to intermediate level. There is also the opportunity to teach a graduate course in Financial Management. Teaching will be in in-person modality on the main campus as well as online, as needed, and is coupled with expectations for appropriate research productivity.
Frostburg State University's College of Business, Engineering, Computing & Analytics is AACSB accredited and values teaching, scholarly contribution, and service, with a growing reputation for addressing the rapidly changing landscape of business through its emphasis on global experiential education. While the College's primary focus is teaching, maintenance of academic qualifications includes productivity in the area of Intellectual Contributions. Service activities to the College include student advising and mentoring, active participation in and support for assurance of learning activities, and select committee assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. or ABD in Finance or related field. If selected candidate is ABD, they will be hired at the rank of Instructor, with the requirement that the candidate finish the doctoral degree within the first year of employment. Previous teaching experience and evidence of scholarly work required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Finance with additional graduate-level study in economics, accounting, and/or business analytics for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Full-time managerial experience in the finance arena is desired. Certifications or advanced training and experience in leading curricular innovations in emergent areas such as financial technology, blockchain, and risk management are preferred.
