Position Summary

The Instructor, Clinical Lab Sciences will teach courses assigned by the Program Director in subject matter pertaining to Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Teaching includes, but is not limited to, clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, transfusion medicine, and/or phlebotomy.
Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching assignments will be courses that prepare students for national Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Scientist, and Medical Laboratory Technician certifications.
- Assigned courses, days, times and/or locations may vary from semester to semester.
- Assignments may be any combination of classroom, hybrid, and online modes.
- Assignments may be located on any combination of CSN's several campuses.
- Assignments may be any combination of morning, afternoon, and evening hours.
- Assignments may be any combination of any days of the week including weekends.
Leadership may include, but not be limited to, any of the following:
- Oversee specialty lab areas and classrooms.
- Collaborate with other CLS faculty in developing courses and selecting textbooks.
- Participate in student assistance/advisement; maintain office hours.
- Participate in college service activities, (i.e., college committees, meetings, activities, etc.).
- Participate in professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences from an accredited College or University.
- National certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
- Current Nevada State Clinical Laboratory Technologist, or General Supervisor license, or eligible to obtain.
- Minimum of 2 years full-time clinical laboratory science experience as an MT or MLS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master or Doctoral degree in CLS or related field such as chemical, physical, or biological sciences; administration; public health; or education.
- Experience using Canvas or similar Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience working with a diverse workforce and/or student body.
- Post-secondary teaching experience desired, CLS preferred; experience mentoring, coaching or training basic skill development preferred; demonstrated abilities to use computer-aided instruction.
Starting Salary Information
Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master's degree, the salary range would be $58,046 to $74,304 annually. The entire salary range is up to $89,166 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years' experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
*This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
The selected candidate may choose Tenure Track or Market Factor salary.
