Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
The full-time Dental Programs faculty member participates in the planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the program curriculum. This individual may also be assigned the responsibility of coordinating the efforts of a designated instructional team. The position develops and teaches courses in Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene.
Education Required
- Bachelor's degree from an institutionally accredited college/university
- Graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
- Current unrestricted license to practice as a dental hygienist in North Carolina
- Current Certified Dental Assistant credential
- Current BLS CPR certification with the American Heart Association or ability to obtain prior to hire date
Education Preferred
- Master's degree from an institutionally accredited college/university
- Member of the American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA)
- Membership in the American Dental Assisting Association
Experience Required
- Three years of recent clinical experience in dental hygiene and/or dental assisting
- Teaching and/or industry training experience in dental topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
Experience Preferred
- Greater than three years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a dental hygienist and/or dental assistant
- Experience with Dental materials
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
