Our Program and Who We Are Looking For
Portland Community College seeks applicants for three full-time tenure-track positions in the Math Department. We seek faculty applicants who are enthusiastic to support students and embrace the changes underway in the Math Department at PCC, as well as regionally and nationally. We encourage applicants whose lived experiences prepare them to provide transformational education for our students and our region.
Successful candidates can expect to teach approximately 9 courses per year (on PCC's quarter system), based at one of PCC's four campuses. The open positions are located at the Cascade, Rock Creek, and Sylvania Campus. PCC's courses are offered in a variety of modalities. We have particular interest in hiring faculty with experience, expertise, and passion in one or more of the following specialties:
- Quantitative Literacy (MTH 105Z)
- Statistics (STAT 243Z)
- Precalculus (MTH 111Z)
- Corequisite courses

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
- Master's degree (MS, MA) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics; OR
- Master's degree in Mathematics Education or Master's degree in Teaching (e.g., MST, MAT) with an emphasis in mathematics;
AND Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics;
AND 18 quarter hours (12 semester hours) in graduate level mathematics, OR - Master's degree in a field related to mathematics;
AND 27 quarter hours (18 semester hours) in graduate-level mathematics
"Related fields" include, but are not limited to, Physics and Engineering. The appropriate Division Dean, in consultation with a Mathematics Faculty Department Chair, will make a recommendation to the appropriate DOI about the applicability of a particular degree as a "related field." As Math Education is handled separately in these qualifications, it is not to be considered a "related field."
Success Criteria:
- Demonstrates an ability and enthusiasm to teach a broad range of community college math and statistics classes, including corequisite classes. (See PCC Math Courses).
- Creates a learner-centered classroom with diverse instructional methods that encourages a sense of belonging, promotes active engagement from a diverse student body, and enhances student success.
- Effectively provides accommodations to students with disabilities and demonstrates openness to supporting individual students equitably with what they need.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and success with peer collaboration and leadership.
- Demonstrates adaptability, innovation, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualification:
- Demonstrates and applies a deep understanding of culturally-responsive, inclusive, and trauma-informed teaching to engage students and improve student success.
Tentative Screening Timeline:
- Monday, December 8, 2025: Application opens
- Wednesday, January 7, 2026: Application closes
- Monday, February 9, 2026 - Wednesday, February 11, 2026: First interviews (Zoom)
- Thursday, February 26, 2026 - Friday, February 27, 2026: Second interviews and teaching demonstrations (in-person and on campus)
- After March 9, 2026: Finalist interviews with AVP and Pathway Dean (Zoom)
Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($73,911) and Step 3 ($78,408) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement. Placement at a higher step may be possible based upon additional experience and internal equity. The highest step of the range is step 17, ($118,558) Please review the salary schedule here.
