Instructor of Health Information Technology
General Description: The permanent responsibility of a faculty member is to provide the most effective instruction possible in his/her discipline. Supervision is received from appropriate supervisor. The faculty member works to ensure that his/her instruction is meeting the educational needs of students.
Requirements: This position requires a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology or Health Information Management, AHIMA credential, preferably RHIT, RHIA, or CCS, and a minimum of three years relevant work experience. The person in this position must be competent with principles and practices of health information management and be able to integrate them into the art of teaching, including online instruction. This position is required to meet minimum requirements for teaching at the post-secondary level set by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and accrediting agencies for individual programs. A criminal background check is required.
